A wee while ago Gavin and I went to a local food fair where we were tempted to sign up to a bi-weekly delivery of organic veggie’s. When the first bag of goodies arrived we found a strange looking thing, something we had not come across before. It was ugly, bobbly and mucky, and nigh on impossible to peel or even cut. With a bit of research we discovered what it was and after peeling (with a very sharp knife) and cutting into wedges, then roasting in sunflower oil (with butter, pepper and sweet marsala) we had our first taste of celeriac and the seed of an idea for this website was planted.

This is not a recipe website, though there will be some recipes. It is a place to look up ingredients and find out what you can do with them. It will also give some details about what to look for when buying ingredients, how to prepare them and how best to store them.

We plan to grow the website slowly and organically and welcome comments, suggestions and contributions. We hope it will be a useful resource for people like us – not experts – but people interested in experimenting with new ingredients and finding more ways to use familiar ones.
